I recently was asked to accompany a friend to look at at a couple of used boats that he had his eye on.  He has a modest budget, like many of us, and just wanted to get his kids out on the lake during our short New England Summers.

Your gauges are a window into your engines health and should not be ignored.  That bouncing water temperature or pressure gauge could be malfunctioning to the point where you wind up with a major overheat and thousands of dollars in marina bills.

Well, it's official  Spring is here.  While spring officially arrived at 7:02 am March 20, here at Mass Marine, it arrives when the grass turns green, the docks go in, and we begin to prepare for launch.

 While marine activities such as boating and water skiing can be a lot of fun, it is important to consider personal safety.  While accidents and boat flips are rare, you don't want to be in a position where no one has personal floatation devices (PFDs), this can lead to tragedy.  A tragedy that can quite easily be avoided.

As a boat owner there are literally hundreds of accessories that you can buy to make your boating experience more pleasurable.  These can range from high quality cabin upgrades, to toys for the kids.  However, the most important accessories you will add you your boat, are navigational aids such as GPS and Auto-pilot.  Needless to say, these are purchases that you want to get right!

You work hard all week and look forward to a weekend on the water. Being able to enjoy your time relaxing out on the open water with your family is what you leave for. What could possibly be better than spending hours out on the turquoise blue water, fishing, relaxing or indulging in a BBQ. But what about your other family members such as your trusty dog. They stay at home all day and look after your property, should they not be able to go out on the water and enjoy some rest and relaxation as well. Of course they should.

Going out on the lake in your boat  is a great way to spend a day or weekend.  Lakes have a lot of advantages over the ocean.  While there are less fish, the water is generally calmer, there are no sharks (although if you read the news there is a Siberian lake that apparently has a monster!) and it’s a lot easier to clean your boat after your day’s adventure.  You also don't have added problems with sand and saltwater on people.

Water sports have increased in popularity in recent years.  This in part has to do to a reduction in the price of products, and also more people looking for ways to have fun and relax on the water.  While it is still mainly a summer sport, there are many hard-core water sport enthusiasts out there that go out on the water even during the cold months.  Hats off to them!
